Buxton, North Carolina
Cape Hatteras Lighthouse stands nearly in the sea, and indeed the structure is in continual danger of being undermined and toppled. I believe the Coast Guard has plans to move the lighthouse back away from the edge of the land. I hope this is the case, because the structure is a national treasure and well worth preserving. This image has been made smaller, and I adjusted the colors slightly to create a richer visual effect.
